Driving down 371 toward Farmington, New Mexico, the sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the landscape. I had just left the striking terrain of the Bisti Badlands when I noticed three horses running alongside the road. Parking quickly, I approached them. Suddenly, they halted and turned, all three facing me in a perfect stillness.
